This is definitely something that we have talked about. Any suggestions on what the API might look like? Would you want to specify a list of bins, or a min/max and bin size? Or have the option of either? How should data outside of the bins be handled? Note that we could theoretically pick the bins intelligently based on the observed data, but that would probably require two passes and would be a much more sophisticated algorithm - so we'd probably want to start with a version that takes explicit instructions.
